Typical
residential and commercial construction allows moisture to enter and
condense in wall cavities. When combined with air circulation inside
these walls, mold and mildew can grow unchecked. When this takes
place, the inside of the home or business is also subject to the formation
of mold and mildew and episodes of colds, coughing, and wheezing in
otherwise healthy people can take place.
Additionally, mold and mildew pose a potential health threat
to asthmatics already allergic to mold. An estimated 20% of all
schools in the United States
have indoor air problems, according to the American
Lung Association. The ICS component wall and roof systems, with
their high-density polyurethane
cores, provide the interior of the structure with a better, healthier
environment. This prevents
the moisture and air circulation required in mold/mildew formation from
taking place in the SIP and passing through to the interior occupied
space.
